About The Position
The SCI RN provides specialized care for patients with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions, supporting both acute stabilization and long-term rehabilitation.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN or CCNE)
- Active RN license (Ohio or compact state)
- Current BLS certification (ACLS required for ICU/ED)
- Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience
- Strong English communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Completion of VA-required training (safety, HIPAA, EHR, etc.)
- Compliance with credentialing and privileging standards
- Ability to float between units as needed
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments and ongoing monitoring
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and specialized treatments
- Provide bowel/bladder care and wound management
- Assist with mobility, ADLs, and rehabilitation goals
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on long-term care needs
- Document care in EHR
