About The Position

Chelten House Products, Inc. is a fourth-generation, family-owned, food industry manufacturer, with facilities in Swedesboro, New Jersey. We are widely recognized for our commitment to creating the finest tasting pasta sauces, salad dressings, salsas, ketchups, and other sauces and blends. We need a Spice Room Lead who will monitor the work associated in the spice room operations, such as printing recipes, coordinating tasked, scaling recipes, and collaborating with shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to commit to shedule Monday -Thursday 4:00 am- 2:30 PM, and occasional overtime on Fridays
  • Basic computer skills required (sending emails, interpreting work changes SL, basic Excel)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Basic math skills required
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong attention to detail is critical

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of continuous manufacturing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and delegate the spice room workload to the team by ensuring ingredients are received within the department timely, scaled accurately, and provided to the kitchens appropriately
  • Answer team member questions, help with team member difficulties, and oversee team member work
  • Prep area for production (startup)
  • Gain knowledge of each ingredient, its specifications and allergen status
  • Ability to repeatedly lift and maneuver bags and boxes weighing 50 pounds by hand or with the use of a pallet jack
  • Ability to repeatedly use your arms, wrists, and hands in a bending/twisting flexible motion. The ability to lift and maneuver scoops of ingredients weighing up to 10lbs during a 10-hour shift into bags, bins and onto pallets using proper bending and lifting technique.
  • Check that batch sheets are available for each item for the day
  • Verify proper ingredients were staged by raw materials
  • Stage and organize ingredients, and load pallets with whole bags of dry ingredients
  • Follow process steps exactly as on the batch sheet, pay attention to detail
  • Verify each ingredient has been added. Properly label each spice blend
  • Seal and label partial return containers
  • Notify supervisors immediately of any ingredient concerns or food safety risks
  • Use proper color-coded allergen scoop as needed
  • Communicate with raw materials dept. for delivery and return of materials
  • Verify and record lot codes for traceability
  • Work in compliance with allergen changeover procedure and completion of documentation
