About The Position

Montage Marketing Group is seeking a Speechwriter to join our team and provide onsite support to a federal government agency located in the Washington, DC area. The Speechwriter provides full spectrum of writing and editing support. The role requires exceptional communication, organization, adaptability, and time management skills to successfully manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. This individual will play a key role in enhancing communications with internal and external audiences in support of the Agency’s mission. This position is contingent upon contract award and will require 5 days/week onsite in Alexandria, VA. The salary for this position is $95,000-$100,000/year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional speechwriting experience for varied audiences and purposes, including at least 3 years supporting science-focused organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and fact-checking content through interviews with subject-matter experts and program officials.
  • Ability to write seamlessly across a variety of formats such as long- form speeches, and internal briefings.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on-site.
  • Submission of two writing samples.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of executive communications strategy related to Agency projects and initiatives.
  • Draft, organize, direct, and evaluate all public remarks on behalf of the Agency, ensuring alignment with Agency mission, vision, and core values.
  • Draft speeches, talking points, remarks, messages, internal communications, congressional testimony, and presentations for Agency leadership.
  • Produce senior-level communications products that articulate and explain complex Agency science programs and research findings.
  • Develop communications plans, engagement strategies, and messaging to advance Agency mission and activities.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure message discipline and consistency across all media.
  • Collaborate across project teams to ensure messaging is coordinated, accurate, and aligned.
  • Tailor messaging for varied audiences, including Congress, scientific associations, academic stakeholders, and other Agency audiences.
  • Synthesize information from internal and external sources into compelling, accurate, and accessible narratives.
  • Translate complex concepts and initiatives into compelling, accessible narratives.
  • Edit materials to conform to the voice and style of Agency leadership.
