About The Position

As a Speech Therapist at our Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by providing specialized speech and language therapy services. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing communication abilities, swallowing function, and overall well-being among our diverse population of older adults.

Requirements

  • Must possess as a minimum, a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have, as a minimum, two (2) years’ experience in a therapy capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility.
  • Training in rehabilitative and restorative therapy practice.
  • Must possess a valid and current license in this state.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstance warrants such action.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the public.
  • Knowledge of therapy procedures.
  • Possess leadership ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc., of the therapy services.
  • Maintaining the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintaining the appearance of therapy areas.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed therapist in planning, developing, organizing, and directing speech therapy, its programs, and activities.
  • Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff, as well as other related departments in planning therapy services.
  • Select speech therapy treatments based on medical necessity and diagnosis of resident.
  • Maintain accurate documentation on all residents and comply with Federal and State guidelines.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities that may become necessary or appropriate to meet the administrative needs of the facility.
