Shift: Mon - Fri/20 hours a week/4 hours a day Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) demonstrates knowledge, skills, and competencies required to maintain the highest professional standards in the provision of services while providing and ensuring quality patient care and adhering to department/insurance/state licensing board/Joint Commission standards. The SLP provides inpatient and/or outpatient speech language pathology specific services that include diagnostic and clinical assessments, screening, development of treatment plans including goals, treatments, and education to patients/caregivers/staff; communicates with medical multidisciplinary teams, assesses and inputs orders for patient diet texture and liquid viscosity as appropriate, is responsible for documenting and submitting charges for services rendered, and is responsible for documentation of evaluation, treatment, and education per department/insurance/state licensing board/Joint Commission standards

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Must have an Arkansas State License
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence or be eligible pending completion of Clinical Fellowship Year.
  • BLS certification (must obtain certification within 30 days of starting this role)
  • Employees in this role must be fitted for, capable of donning, and able to perform routine tasks in personal protective equipment, including N95 masks, Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPR), or Controlled Air Purifying Respirators (CAPR).

Nice To Haves

  • 3 plus years of experience as an Inpatient/Acute Speech Therapist (specifically in Dysphagia, VFSS, and FEES)

Responsibilities

  • Performs comprehensive examination of patients using appropriate tests/measures, completes the evaluation, and formulates an individualized plan of care.
  • Provides evidence-based, high-quality patient treatment and education, and monitors patients' physiological status during sessions.
  • Consistently meets departmental productivity targets.
  • Responsive to needs/requests outside of direct patient care. May include serving as a Clinical Instructor, providing presentations, serving on committees/teams, performing program development/projects, developing educational materials, providing education to coworkers after attending continuing education that was supported by travel or educational leave, etc.
  • Adheres to UAMS/Department policy for attendance; reports for all scheduled shifts on time and completes shift duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
