About The Position

MercyOne Newton Medical Center: Ideal for new grad needing fellowship time and support of a mentor! Full-Time Day Shift (80 hours biweekly) Provides evaluation consultation, and treatment of patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive, and swallowing deficits. Provides on-going speech/language therapy to patients of diverse ages and their families. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions. Performs evaluations and treatments to a diverse population in a variety of settings and completes supporting documentation according to hospital policy (based on assignment). Appropriately establishes and reviews: plan of care; goals and priorities with team (including patient/family); treatment in response to changing patient needs; educational needs of patient/caregivers; discharge plan/follow-up care needs. Complies with department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines with respect to ethics, legal issues and supervisory relationships. Demonstrates professional accountability per Speech – Language Pathology Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Demonstrates appropriate and effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication with team members through the continuum of care. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or obtain within one year of hire
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Iowa
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Certifications must be obtained through the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
  • Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
