About The Position

The Pediatric Speech Therapist assumes primary responsibility for assessment, diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication and swallowing disorders in the pediatric population, birth to age 21. The therapist collaborates with other professionals on the patient’s medical team, maintains adequate records, and documents the appropriate progress reports and patient education. The therapist supervises support staff and students as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree from an Accredited Institution in Speech Therapy/Communication Disorders.
• ASHA Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology or eligibility to begin CFY with successful completion of national exam.
• Alabama license in Speech Pathology or pending CFY completion.
• BCLS certification within orientation period.

Nice To Haves

• Pediatric experience with speech/language/swallowing/feeding disorders.
• Training/experience for participation in Modified Barium Swallows.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
