About The Position

The position is for a part-time Licensed Speech Language Pathologist at Advocate Health, specifically within the Acute Care Rehabilitation department. The role requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours per month, including weekend rotations and the ability to cover staff PTO during the week. The pay range for this position is between $37.50 and $56.25 per hour. The Speech Language Pathologist will interpret physician referrals, conduct evaluations, establish treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care. Responsibilities also include documentation, maintaining productivity standards, and participating in performance improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited school.
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA or CFY eligibility.
  • No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets physician referrals and conducts speech and language evaluations.
  • Establishes and implements individual treatment plans based on evaluation results.
  • Monitors and evaluates treatment outcomes and adjusts plans as necessary.
  • Identifies and addresses factors affecting patient comfort.
  • Plans for patient discharge and provides necessary education and referrals.
  • Communicates and collaborates with stakeholders for optimal patient care.
  • Completes required documentation following department policies.
  • Records patient care and progress.
  • Applies insurance guidelines regarding authorization and visits.
  • Maintains established productivity standards.
  • Cleans up after patient treatment and keeps the area orderly.
  • Demonstrates skill in the use of modalities and exercise equipment.
  • Participates in safety initiatives and follows infection control measures.
  • Manages assigned caseload and informs leadership of coverage needs.
  • Pursues professional growth through continuing education.
  • Orients new staff and participates in the evaluation of co-workers.
  • May supervise non-licensed personnel and support student clinical education.
