About The Position

The Speech Therapist provides evidence-based speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallow services to the organization's patient population, as well as, modified barium swallow assessments for outpatient population.

Requirements

• Graduate of an ASHA-accredited Speech Therapy Program
• 0-1 years Speech Therapy experience
• Speech Therapy License in Florida
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competencies (CCC)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Level II
• AHCA Background Check (Home Care Only)
• Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Background Check (Home Care Only)

Nice To Haves

• 1 year experience with adults in a home health setting

Responsibilities

• Evaluation, reassessment, treatment, and education are developed based on patients' age-specific needs, particularly in the areas of body system function, cognition, speech and language, hearing, swallowing function, psychological function, nutritional status, and overall performance of functional activities.
• Appropriate tests are applied to determine the patient's communication status, cognitive and linguistic status, memory, problem-solving activities, oropharyngeal function, hearing/speech fluency and quality, and voice.
• Reassessing the specific rehabilitation needs of each patient, establishing realistic problem lists and attainable goals, and making necessary revisions to the plan of care as indicated.
• Educating and documenting instructions given to patients, caregivers, family members, and other healthcare personnel.
• Meets productivity standards set by management, completes all documentation and patient care with accuracy and efficiency, and within departmental and organizational guidelines.
• Makes referrals to other disciplines as indicated by the patient's needs.
• Performs all other duties assigned by management within job scope.
