About The Position

The SLP will provide and direct Speech Therapy services to people with intellectual disabilities to include assessment and treatment, development and implementation, and related professional in-services. Work as an interdisciplinary team member to implement support plans that facilitate people in reaching their full potential. Comply with all Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) regulations. Provide critical competency based teaching to care givers and management staff to facilitate continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology
  • Tennessee Licensure (required)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience
  • Licensed SLP
  • Basic computer skills with Microsoft software
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Health must be adequate to allow for efficient accomplishment of assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • 90-Day Evaluation Period
  • All Orange Grove Center required training and orientation

  • Prefer previous experience in the developmental disabilities field of service.

Responsibilities

  • Function independently and as a team member.
  • Should be able to teach in a variety of settings to people with varying educational backgrounds and literacy levels.
  • Should be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for client records.
  • Assess, develop, implement and monitor dysphagia/mealtime guidelines and plans, assistive technology plans, and speech assessments.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to discuss collaborative recommendations.
  • Attend Circle of Support (COS)/Individualized Service Plan (ISP) meetings to interpret evaluation and/or treatment results and recommendations.
  • Comply with Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) State Operations Manual for performing annual assessment and ongoing treatment regarding dysphagia/mealtime guidelines and plans, speech assessments, and assistive technology needs to Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities residing in ICF/IID homes.
  • Coordinate care of the individual with medical staff, residential and day program staff, and other team members. This may include accompanying people to community providers.
  • Provide training to all staff and people residing in ICF/IID homes. Training includes mealtime plans, communication profiles, and/or assistive technology devices.
  • Provide ongoing assistance, consultation, and support.
  • Emergency on-call and weekend availability required.
  • Maintain current state license.
  • Other duties as assigned.
