Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for those assigned patients. Ensures the design of functional treatment programs allowing for an effective return to community activities. Serves as an educator of patients, families, students, co-workers and self. Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, development of discipline-specific therapy services and design of program delivery. Position Summary: (not all inclusive) Evaluate patients and develop individualized speech, language, communication, and swallowing treatment plans in accordance with physician orders. Diagnose, treat, and prevent speech, voice, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Assess swallowing function and recommend appropriate diets; support patients with aphasia and communication deficits. Perform screenings to identify speech or voice disorders. Educate patients, families, and staff on disorders, treatment plans, and outcomes; provide counseling as needed. Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, families, and external agencies. Refer patients to appropriate medical or allied health specialists when indicated. Participate in continuing education, in-service training, and professional development. Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • License to practice Speech Language Pathology in the State of Texas
  • Current BLS Certification within 30 days of date of hire.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology
