About The Position

Are you a skilled Speech Pathologist ready to work at the forefront of neurological rehabilitation for military service members? Join the specialized interdisciplinary team at the Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Carson, CO—one of the nation's premier centers for traumatic brain injury (TBI) care. We are seeking a Licensed Clinical Speech Language Pathologist to provide advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services in support of the Defense Health Agency.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a directly related field from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Must include a minimum of 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Experience as required to meet clinical competency requirements as specified in the credentialing instructions.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must obtain and maintain a 10-digit NPI

Responsibilities

  • Provide precedent-setting diagnoses, treatment, and case management for patients with the most severe speech disorders
  • Design, develop, and apply new approaches and innovative methods of problem-solving in evaluation, treatment, management, rehabilitation, and resolution of complex speech and communication disorders.
  • Function across the full gamut of speech language pathology activities, applying innovative diagnostic, therapeutic, and clinical trial techniques developed exclusively within the Center or with strategic partners.
  • Participate in advanced clinical research projects relative to diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Document and develop clinical practice guidelines, evidence-based practice standards of care, templates, testing guidelines, and employment of off-label use of technologies.
  • Participate in the development of protocols to investigate efficacy and effectiveness of new clinical tests and standards of care.
  • Serve as a role model for effective speech pathology best practice skills for the interdisciplinary team.
  • Document and close notes in MHS Genesis
  • Respond to beneficiary messages in the MHS Genesis secure portal
  • Comply with regulatory, MTF, and Joint Commission quality inspection/peer review/utilization management requirements.
