About The Position

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center Speech Pathologist PRN: Day Shift Provides Speech Therapy evaluations and treatments to appropriate patients to facilitate their return to prior level of functioning as prescribed by physician. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in communicative disorders.
  • No prior experience required.
  • State of Iowa licensure or temporary clinical license
  • Certification by the American SpeechHearing Association preferred.
  • Mandatory Reporter.
  • BLS
  • FIM.
  • Valid IA driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) (required if working in Speech Therapy or Contract Therapy)
  • High language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
  • Personal computer.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to attend patients off-site in a timely manner.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Good judgment and insight.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with treatment team, supervisors, peers, patients, and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by the American SpeechHearing Association preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts patient assessment.
  • Develops treatment plans for patients.
  • Administers treatment techniques competently.
  • Communicates relevant patient information.
  • Provides education to patients and families.
  • Supervises students and volunteers.
  • Provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
