About The Position

Evaluates communication disorders and administers therapy treatments for patients with problems associated with hearing, speech, language and swallowing disorders. Maintains records, monitors progress, and counsel’s patients and their family members. Participates in multidisciplinary consultations.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology, required.
  • Currently licensed in Speech Pathology in the State of New York.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, required.
  • Completion of CFY.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets and executes physician orders.
  • Screens and assesses patients based on diagnosis and age to develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Discusses findings and collaborates with patients/family on the establishment of goals.
  • Implements creative treatment activities based upon patient age, interest, education level, social history and cultural and spiritual considerations.
  • Monitors patient response to treatment and changes plan, as needed.
  • Develops program to support performance in the home and community environment.
  • Teaches specific techniques and procedures to patient, family and/or hospital personnel.
  • Monitors treatment environment for safety.
  • Considers psychosocial aspects of care.
  • Terminates services when maximum benefit is received and formulates follow up plan when indicated.
  • Provides in-service education to staff and other healthcare personnel; and clinical education to students.
  • Documents care and maintain records as required.
  • Schedules and prioritizes workload to meet productivity standards and deadlines.
  • Carries-out assigned role in Assessment of Program Quality and Case Record Review.
  • Performs related duties as required.
