About The Position

Administers and directly applies Speech/Language therapy treatment modalities as prescribed by the referring physician. Evaluates plans, directs, and treats all patients referred for speech/language therapy. Pathology treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society while learning to live a routine “normal” life within the constraints of their disability. Participates in performance improvement activities within the department. Assures personal competency. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech pathology evaluation and treatment. Participates in infection control, safely and educational programs, both in department and on an organizational basis.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology (Communication Disorders) from an accredited program in speech/language therapy.
  • Georgia license and American Speech/Language Association Certification(ASHA) or Speech Pathology PCE Temporary License (PCE).
  • Must obtain ASHA CCC-SLP certification within 12 months of employment.
  • Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
  • Must complete and maintain required stroke education/training as mandated in the “HHC Primary Stroke Center / Acute Stroke Ready Designation” policy.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret patient evaluations, assessments, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and patients.
  • Utilizes a variety of office equipment to include computer, copier, and fax
