About The Position

The Stanley G. Falk School, one of the largest Special Education Day Schools in New York State, serves students across four Western New York locations. We are currently seeking a licensed Speech Language Pathologist to join our collaborative school team and provide therapy services that support students’ communication development and academic success in a structured, supportive environment. Speech Language Pathologists provide individual and group therapy to students with speech, voice, and language disorders to improve communication skills and support academic success. Therapists work collaboratively with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress and help students reach their fullest communication and academic potential. Falk classrooms are intentionally small, typically serving six students supported by one teacher and one teacher aide, allowing staff to collaborate closely and provide individualized support. This role is a great opportunity for professionals who are passionate about supporting students with diverse communication and learning needs while working as part of a collaborative school team.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Speech Language Pathology program
  • New York State Speech Language Pathologist license required
  • Knowledge of speech and language development and therapeutic intervention strategies

Responsibilities

  • Planning and providing individual and group therapy aligned with speech and language goals within students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Implementation Plans
  • Delivering therapy services addressing speech, voice, and language disorders
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to support student learning and communication development
  • Conducting evaluations using standardized assessments, observation, and student histories
  • Developing and recommending speech and language goals as part of the IEP process
  • Preparing comprehensive written evaluation reports that outline student strengths and areas of need
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to review evaluation results and develop intervention plans
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting therapy interventions as appropriate
  • Responding calmly and effectively in situations involving students with challenging behaviors
