Presbyterian is seeking a Speech Language Therapist who will evaluate patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and dysphagia disorders. The role involves overseeing and ensuring a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, cognitive and immediate environmental well-being of the patient, promoting patient/caregiver self-determination, and coordinating with various disciplines or services involved in patient care towards discharge goals. Settings may include inpatient, outpatient, long term care, community based care and home health care.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • New Mexico Licensure in SLP
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • 1-3 years experience or Clinical Fellowship eligible Speech Language Pathologist
  • Detailed knowledge of speech and language pathology in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of data
  • Basic understanding of the rules and regulations of the specific setting

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and treat patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for rehabilitation of speech, language, communication, cognition, hearing and dysphasia disorders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
  • Oversee and insure a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical, psychosocial, cognitive and immediate environmental well-being of the patient.
  • Promote patient/caregiver self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of independence.
  • Coordinate and communicate with various disciplines or services involved in patient care.
  • Coordinate efforts toward discharge goals established at initial evaluation and during episode of care.
  • Act as a patient advocate.
  • Other duties as assigned.
