About The Position

Pomfret Community School is a dynamic, inclusive Pre-K through Grade 8 learning community committed to the academic, social, and emotional development of every student. We are seeking a passionate, collaborative, and skilled Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to support students' communication needs across grades PreK-8. The SLP will provide direct services, consultation, and evaluation to students with speech and language challenges that impact academic achievement and social-emotional development.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure (or eligibility) as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Experience working in school settings or with school-age children strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and evidence-based intervention strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and assessments in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with speech and language impairments.
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and/or group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and other school staff to support student success.
  • Participate in IEP team meetings and contribute to the development of appropriate goals and accommodations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of services and student progress.
  • Provide support and training to staff and families to enhance understanding and strategies for speech/language development.
  • Stay current with best practices and legal mandates in the field of speech-language pathology and special education.
