The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) supports licensed Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) in the delivery of speech and language services to students. Under the supervision of an SLP, the SLPA assists with implementing treatment plans, conducting therapy sessions, documenting student progress, and supporting communication goals as outlined in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). The SLPA plays a vital role in enhancing students' communication skills, contributing to their academic and social-emotional success. Main Base: San Dimas; Two days of the week in Hesperia, CA.

  • Implement evidence-based speech language therapy sessions based on students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals under the supervision and guidance of a licensed SLP.
  • Provide direct support to students in both individual and group settings to address speech and language deficits.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and school teams to integrate speech language strategies into classroom instruction and student learning plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, assist with data collection, and provide regular updates to the supervising SLP.
  • Prepare and maintain speech therapy materials for assigned students.
  • Use of a personal cell phone for work-related communication when agency radios and phones are not easily accessible.
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
  • Represent the agency in a professional, respectful manner when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • May be required to travel to various school locations as assigned.
  • Complete all onboarding requirements within the designated time frame and remain in compliance with agency expectations for timely review and acknowledgment of policies, procedures, and trainings.
  • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Valid California Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) license in good standing.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience as an SLPA, preferably in a school-based setting.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to learn and apply various district computer-based IEP programs.
  • Excellent reading and writing skills.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, and other office-related software.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate professionalism, patience, empathy, and courtesy.
  • Must successfully complete and maintain certification in Pro ACT.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and physically assist, move, or restrain students as necessary to ensure safety and support.
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, and providing mobility or personal care to students (dressing, hygiene, toileting, etc.).
  • Visual and auditory acuity to perform to engage in direct therapy and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families.
  • Manual dexterity is required for using instructional tools, technology, and supporting students with assistive devices.
  • May be required to perform prolonged work at a computer for documentation, planning, and communication purposes.
  • Capable of navigating school environments and traveling between multiple sites as required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, tuberculosis (TB) test, and drug screening.
  • Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Child Abuse Index (CACI) clearance.
