About the Position POSITION: Speech Language Pathologist EMPLOYMENT TYPE: 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) WORK SCHEDULE: Day DEPARTMENT: Rehab/Speech Therapy We are Now Offering a $5,000 Sign on Bonus!! OVERVIEW: The staff Speech and Language Therapist assumes responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients and provides speech and language therapy evaluations, modalities, and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, maintaining the highest degree of quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Has current licensure in Speech and Language Pathology in the State of Minnesota.
  • Certified by ASHA for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech/Language Pathology or ability to obtain within first 12 months of hire.
  • Has BLS certification or ability to attain within six (6) months, and must maintain certification.
  • Demonstrates participation in and upholds Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital's Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the care of patients in an acute hospital setting preferred.
  • New grads within their Clinical Fellowship are encouraged and welcome to apply!

Responsibilities

  • May be assigned to orient staff and students and to assume the duties and responsibilities of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
  • Accurately assesses patients' needs.
  • Identifies and initiates appropriate speech and language therapy interventions.
  • Provides patient and family teaching.
  • Works cooperatively with other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional speech and language therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
  • These functions are carried out according to hospital policy in accordance with the mission and vision of the hospital and consistent with the philosophy of the department.
  • Participates in performance improvement and program development activities.
  • Provides input into the budgetary planning process.
  • Contributes to cost effectiveness of services and programs provided by the department
  • Communicates observations and suggestions related to opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintains positive relations with all customers.
