About The Position

Baptist Medical Center is currently looking to add a Speech Language Pathologist to our Acute Care Rehab Team in Jacksonville, FL. This is a Part-Time opportunity at Baptist Medical Center in downtown Jacksonville, FL. This is a Part-Time opportunity (24 hours per week) working in an acute care, inpatient hospital setting. The ideal candidate would be flexible to work weekdays, weekends, and holiday rotations and has had at least 2 years of previous experience working in acute care settings, including experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies. The schedule is expected to include three 8-hour shifts per week (to include regular Monday and Friday coverage) as well as participating in weekend and holiday coverage rotations. Requirements

  • 1 or more years Experience working in an Acute Care setting
  • Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies
  • Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
  • Licensed Speech Language Pathologist Required
  • American Speech-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certification Required
  • Active BLS from the American Heart Association and licensure from the FL Department of Health required

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, diagnoses, develops and implements a treatment plan for patients of all diagnoses.
  • Provides care for patients who present with a variety of medical conditions/dysfunctions such as neurological (stroke, seizures, movement disorders, Guillain barre), respiratory, and general medical conditions which impact swallowing, speech, language or cognitive-communication skills.
  • Provides extensive patient/family education.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team care with other rehab professionals, nursing, physicians, dietitians, social services, respiratory, support staff, etc.
  • Works in a fast-paced setting requiring good time management, detailed documentation skills in the EMR, self-directed, and effective communication skills.
