About The Position

Position Purpose: Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech, language, and hearing problems in accordance with Indiana Special education laws Essential functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Conduct speech, language, hearing screens. Diagnosis and evaluates speech, language and hearing skills as related to educational, medical, social, and psychological factors. Plans, directs and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative treatment programs to develop communicative efficiency of individuals with communication delays. Administers, scores, and interprets specialized speech and language assessments and hearing screenings. Develops individualized educational programs for students to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities. Conduct evaluations within guidelines established through Article 7. Report progress on IEP goals on a quarterly basis. Attend/hold case conferences within guidelines established through Article 7. Maintains records and progress monitoring required by law Serves as consultant for classroom teachers, psychologist, principals, and counselors to promote speech and language development activities in the daily schedule. Bills Medicaid as eligible for services rendered. Maintains confidentiality. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Appropriate certifications by the Indiana Department of Education.
  • Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with groups of students, parents, and school staff.
  • Skills in human relations and organization.

Nice To Haves

  • ASHA Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Other qualifications that district may require.
