About The Position

Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for a Speech Language Pathologist to join our Elementary Team for the 2026-2027 school year. The Speech Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students

Requirements

  • Arizona Department of Health Services Speech and Language Pathology License
  • Arizona Department of Education Certificate
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Support BFCS Vision, Mission, and Goals.
  • Promote and adhere to BFCS Policies and Procedures.
  • Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence.
  • Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
  • Assess students with speech or language disorders and determine eligibility for services
  • Develop annual IEPs and complete 3 year re-evaluations
  • Plan and provide high quality, direct individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals according to individual IEPs
  • Conduct assessments, analyze results, and write reports to determine strengths, concerns, and eligibility in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills
  • Mentor teachers in observing, describing, and referring students with suspected speech and/or language deficits
  • Develop speech and language treatment plans to include objectives, methods, frequency, duration, and modifications for regular classroom setting
  • Serve as a resource to staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication
  • Schedule, prepare for, and conduct IEP meetings
  • Maintain accurate and current records for students receiving or being referred for speech and language services as required by law and school policy
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis to discuss students progress and interpret the Speech Language program
  • Provide goals, objectives, and progress of each student to parents quarterly in addition to individual requests
  • Complete treatment of notes and progress reports in a timely manner and according to school policy
  • Manage a detailed log of service provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences.
  • Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services
  • Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, teachers, support staff and administration.
  • Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting classroom and school-wide student performance goals.
  • Maintain communication with the Special Education Mentor, Coordinator, and Director as needed.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or organization.
