About The Position

Solterra Academy provides comprehensive special education services for students ages 5 to 22 who require intensive support due to emotional, behavioral, cognitive, developmental, and/or learning challenges. We are committed to creating a therapeutic, structured, and student-centered environment that supports the growth, independence, and success of every learner. We are seeking a full-time Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our Clinical Team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with educators, clinicians, families, and support staff to assess, diagnose, and provide individualized speech and language services aligned with each student’s IEP. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and comfortable working in a therapeutic school setting with students who have complex needs. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (In-Person) Summer Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM (In-Person) Please note: This position requires a year-round commitment, including both the regular school year and our summer session. We do not offer summer-only employment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Connecticut Department of Public Health SLP licensure (or pending)
  • ASHA Certification (or Clinical Fellowship Year in progress)
  • CT State Department of Education 061 Certification (or pending)
  • CPR Certification (required within 90 days of hire; training provided by Solterra Academy)
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by Solterra Academy)

  • Experience working with students with emotional or behavioral disabilities preferred

Responsibilities

  • Screen, assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language disorders
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and IEP goals
  • Track and document student progress on IEP goals and social-emotional development
  • Conduct triennial evaluations and prepare reports within required timelines
  • Participate in PPT meetings and collaborate with primary teams
  • Support graduating students by contributing to the Summary of Performance (SOP)
  • Initiate collaboration with clinician and primary team to design and implement incentive plans as needed when students are refusing treatment?
  • Partner with families and caregivers to support carryover of skills
  • Communicate effectively with staff using culturally responsive practices
  • Utilize Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • Conduct Life Space Interviews (LSIs) as needed
  • Follow all state regulations related to restraint and seclusion
  • Collect and maintain accurate daily data on student performance and behavior
  • Complete Medicaid documentation and service hour logs
  • Offers coping strategies to students??
  • Sets limits on student behaviors when appropriate??
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with students??
  • Actively supervise students in all environments
  • May supervise college students for clinical field experience or a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) as requested by administration.
