About The Position

At CHI Health CUMC-Bergan Mercy, our focus is patient-centered care. Our level I trauma center and academic medical center campus is designed to heal the body, mind, and spirit of every person in a more comfortable, less stressful hospital environment. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services, heart and vascular care, emergency services, surgery, maternity, cancer care, and diagnostic imaging. As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life. Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals. To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Requirements

  • Masters Other in Speech Language, upon hire
  • Speech Language Pathologist: NE, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology, within 18 - months

Responsibilities

  • Provides speech language evaluations, care planning, patient treatment and education according to the professional practice guidelines defined by state and professional sources.
  • Works as a collaborative team member to develop a coordinated care plan that is accountable to achievement of established goals.
  • Is knowledgeable and completes all required documentation and billing requirements according to established local, state and federal law.
  • Is responsible for the knowledge and application of measurable quality metrics associated with the area of active practice.
  • Periodically attends team meetings to discuss/improve program evaluation/quality measures
  • Takes responsibility to stay current with evidenced based practice guidelines, stays current with new research introduced and serves as a professional resource to other team members in the area of speech language practice in a medical setting.
  • In support of the academic health mission of the organization, periodically accepts assignment of student clinical education at all levels of clinical training.
