Salary begins at $67,168 + per year depending on experience based on a 1.0 FTE. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) works collaboratively with the patient, family, and other providers to support the patient in reaching their fullest potential. Through a holistic approach SLPs help patients develop, recover and maintain speech, voice, fluency, language, swallowing, and feeding skills needed to be able to participate in valued activities and be a successful member of society.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited Speech Pathology Program.
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice the profession.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for, administer, score, and interpret initial evaluations and re-evaluations including writing a report.
  • Communicate with patients to evaluate their levels of speech or language difficulty
  • Determine the extent of communication problems by having a patient complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks or by giving standardized tests
  • Diagnose & Identify treatment options
  • Create and carry out an individualized treatment plan
  • Teach patients how to make sounds and improve their voices
  • Teach alternative communication methods, such as sign language, to patients with little or no speech capability
  • Work with patients to improve their ability to read and write correctly
  • Work with patients to develop and strengthen the muscles used to swallow
  • Counsel patients and families on how to cope with communication disorders
  • Review relevant literature, synthesize evidence-based materials, and translate complex behavioral health concepts
  • Conduct case management and other administration tasks as needed
  • Provide referral services to outside therapists, clinics, and treatment facilities
  • Refer patients to specialists as needed.
  • Collaborate with NorthLakes providers as well as external resources and providers in the best interest of the patients’ continuation of care.
  • Work collaboratively with NorthLakes support staff in the interest of care integration initiatives.
  • Plans and administers therapeutic treatment by telephonic/ telehealth methodologies as indicated by patient needs and state guidelines.
  • Appropriate use of PPE/infection control protocols when providing treatment to patients.
