About The Position

This position is a remote or hybrid option is available for this position for the 2025-2026 school year. The position will be re-evaluated in subsequent school years, based on student need. The district will provide a laptop and utilizes Microsoft Teams for all virtual meetings. TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist POSTION TYPE: TCHR HIRING SPECIFICATIONS: Required: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology Professional Service License or Statement of Professional Recognition Iowa Department of Public Health license American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence or actively pursuing (to be obtained within 2 years of hire) Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Compentency working in a culturally diverse environment or willingness to acquire these skills. BASIC FUNCTION: The speech-language pathologist provides educational services to students with communication disorders. In addition to providing speech-language services, they may serve as service coordinator to children and families when deemed appropriate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct communication screenings, assessments, and evaluations for students who may have communication deficits. Analyze test results; determine eligibility for entitlement for communication services; provide instructional services using various instructional strategies, tools, and techniques. Develop and guide school staff as they implement speech-language interventions. Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs forstudents. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams throughout the child find and IEP processes in order to meet student educational needs. Keep documentation for each child who has awritten communication goal on an IEP and/or who receives consultative support and monitor for educational change. ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position): Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Professional Service License or Statement of Professional Recognition
  • Iowa Department of Public Health license
  • American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence or actively pursuing (to be obtained within 2 years of hire)
