The Connect AcademyCarol Stream, IL
Onsite

About The Position

This position is for the 26-27 School Year with a start date of August 10th. The Connect Academy is an organization with multiple campuses, including Connect Academy Carol Stream (PreK-8 for students with challenging behaviors), a High School campus in Addison, and a Lombard location (PreK-3 for nonverbal/minimally verbal students with autism as a bridge to public elementary school). ReConnect serves general education students as an alternative setting. All campuses provide comprehensive therapeutic services to address social-emotional and functional needs, supporting access to learning in addition to standards-based academics. The mission of the program is to provide students with social/emotional/behavioral issues a state-of-the-art therapeutic day program, offering high-quality education in academic and social/emotional realms through hands-on instructional experiences and a therapeutic approach in art, music, and movement. The Speech Language Pathologist assesses, diagnoses, and treats students with speech, language, and communication challenges, often in conjunction with emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges. They develop individualized treatment plans aligned with each student's IEP, deliver direct and consultative services, and collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and families to support communication goals across settings. By integrating therapeutic strategies into the school day, the speech-language pathologist helps students improve functional communication skills, enhance social interactions, and access the academic curriculum more effectively in a supportive and trauma-informed environment.
