About The Position

We serve children and adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, children experiencing mental health challenges, children who cannot remain at home and require foster care placement and children who are Unaccompanied Refugee Minors who come to the United States from around the world and whose lives have been torn apart due to conflict and oppression. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides evaluation, treatment, and consultation services to residents of a small Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) on a contract basis. The SLP supports communication, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing needs, while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary team members to enhance residents’ quality of life, independence, and functional communication skills.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program, and current state licensure required.
  • Successful completion of the criminal background check, and State Central Registry clearance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, knowledge of best practices working with children and families, and demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client’s homes and/or community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
  • Virtus, Corporate Compliance, Defensive Driving, and trainings required as part of program licensing.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of experience working with adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities and knowledge of Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF) regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and update individualized treatment plans in accordance with ICF regulations and residents’ goals
  • Provide direct speech-language therapy services based on assessed needs
  • Address augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) needs, as appropriate
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in compliance with agency and regulatory standards
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, care planning, and annual reviews as required
  • Provide staff training and consultation related to communication strategies, feeding safety, and adaptive supports
  • Collaborate with nursing, nutritionist, direct support professionals, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and other providers
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and Medicaid ICF requirements
