The Speech Language Pathologist provides direct speech and language services to students who qualify for special education services. Responsibilities also include completion of speech and language evaluations, participation in the MTSS speech and language intervention process, participation in special education eligibility and IEP meetings, managing a caseload of students, IEP development, and Medicaid billing.

  • Exhibits a high knowledge of speech and language service techniques for students with a variety of communication-related difficulties
  • Communicates and performs duties in a manner compliant with IDEA, Georgia state rules, Dalton Public Schools local procedures, and the Georgia State Code of Ethics
  • Exhibits effective communication skills with other service providers (i.e., teachers, other therapists, administrators, and other school and district staff)
  • Proficient using word processing, spreadsheets, and forms applications
  • Exhibits consistent and effective strategies to communicate as an itinerant staff member
  • Works with accuracy and timeliness in requested tasks and work completion
  • Exhibits effective record-keeping/data collection skills
  • Attends district and school meetings when scheduled
  • Maintains in-field licensure/certification
  • To be qualified for this position the employee must possess active Georgia licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • This position is not available for individuals seeking alternative preparation for certification.
