About The Position

Beloit Health System is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join their team. This role involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of various communicative, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. The pathologist will respond to referrals, schedule patients, perform screenings and diagnostic evaluations, interpret findings, and establish and execute appropriate treatment plans. The position requires referring patients to other professionals and agencies when indicated, and informing, counseling, and consulting with patients' families, case managers, industries, and other healthcare workers. Documentation of patient data, including evaluations, treatment and progress notes, discharge summaries, and charges, is required in accordance with professional, regulatory, and institutional guidelines. The role also involves developing and executing discharge plans, participating in team conferences and discharge planning, and contributing to performance improvements, community, and staff education programs. The Speech-Language Pathologist may also supervise student interns and is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work area. Strong communication skills, a desire for excellence, and respectful interaction with various internal and external constituents are essential. The SLP will have regular access to and must maintain protected health information of patients. Coverage at other Physical Medicine locations and settings may be required based on patient care/departmental needs.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited school or higher degree equivalent.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency in Speech Language Pathology.
  • American Heart Association, Healthcare Provider CPR and AED Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform one or more of the following activities (evaluation, treatment, and/or patient care) for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees, patients, and family members in groups and on a one-to-one basis.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Familiarity with a variety of equipment, including computer software.
  • Organization, time management, flexibility, and positive attitude.
  • Continuous professional development.
  • Current License in the State of Wisconsin as Speech Language Pathologist at the time of hire or prior to providing services.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple demands.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of various communicative, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
  • Respond to referral and schedule patient according to department policies and procedures.
  • Perform screenings and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Interpret findings of evaluations and diagnose communicative, cognitive, and swallowing disorders.
  • Establish and execute appropriate treatment plans.
  • Refer patients to other professionals and agencies when indicated.
  • Inform, counsel and consult with patient's family, case managers, industries, etc. and other health care workers.
  • Document patient data (evaluation, treatment and progress notes, D/C summary, charges) and department statistics according to department policies and procedures.
  • Develop and execute appropriate discharge plans.
  • Participate in team conferences and discharge planning with departmental staff and/or members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in performance improvements, community and staff education programs.
  • Share in supervision of student interns of Speech Language Pathology programs, shadow students.
  • Perform the necessary functions to prepare, maintain, and clean up the work area to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain the protected health information of patients in their care.
  • Respectfully interact with a wide variety of internal and external constituents, including (but are not limited to) team members, staff and physicians, local companies, patients, families, vendors, and all insurance representatives.
  • Provide coverage to other Physical Medicine locations and settings as necessary based on patient care/departmental needs.
  • Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients.
  • Adhere to established hospital and Physical Medicine departmental policies, rules and regulations.
  • Provide services in compliance with federal, state, professional organization.
