About The Position

General Purpose: The Speech Language Pathologist manages the identification and intervention with students with communication disorders in need of specialized services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Evaluation Conduct speech, language, hearing screening. Administers formal and informal diagnostic assessments. Obtains additional and/or supplementary diagnostic information from appropriate persons and/or available records. Analyses and interprets assessment information to make recommendations regarding the needs of students. Makes recommendations and referrals for audiology and related services. Prepares assessment reports: to include interpretations and recommendations. IEP Development and Implementation Utilizes all information available from multidisciplinary assessments to develop an individualized educational program: to include appropriate service delivery and goals. Implementation of the IEP. Implementing Instructional and Therapeutic Interventions Plans appropriate interventions to support implementation of state standards for students’ needs. Uses methods and techniques appropriate to stated needs. Adjusts intervention strategies based upon student performance. Manages time efficiently. Manages the facilities, materials and equipment necessary to the delivery of services. Promotes effective interpersonal relationships with students. Uses clinical-educational research and development in the design and implementation of appropriate services. Liaison Provides consultation to parents, teachers, and other appropriate personnel. Seeks the assistance of teachers, parents and other to meet the communication needs of students. Consults/Communicates with community agencies to enhance services. Provides appropriate information on an informal/formal basis regarding speech, language programs and services available. Works cooperatively with school personnel to accomplish the speech and language needs Coordinates speech, language services with student services provided by other school personnel.

Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred)
  • Certification from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • CDE License (or able to obtain) – Special Services Endorsement
