About The Position

The primary purpose of position is to provide direct services to people with disabilities and their families needing assistive technology and alternative/augmentative communication related services. Serve as a Speech Language Pathologist within the NCATP Western region serving people with a wide range of communication devices and systems. This position will provide device demo, loan, training, assessments, train-the-trainer, technical assistance and consultation to consumers, professionals, employers, programs, schools and agencies. Services provided include both “free” and “fee based” services. The position is responsible for assisting with the equipment demo and loan program, as well as providing general assistive technology services across Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologist.

  • Broad knowledge of Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology, including devices, services, resources that support individuals with disabilities and/or medical limitations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including individuals, programs, and agencies, communicating effectively orally and in writing with people with disabilities, families, staff, and other professionals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, develop and implement effective planning strategies, and provide technical assistance across a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to different environments while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service quality.
  • Ability to operate a computer and computer software, as well as create spreadsheets and power point presentations.
  • Ability to enter data into developed data collection system.
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Routine travel across the central portion of the state and occasionally across the state as needed.

  • Provide general assistive technology services across Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.
