About The Position

Tri-County Special Education Services USD 495 is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to provide individualized therapy programs, observe and refer suspected speech and language impairments, and assess and diagnose speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments. Our competitve compensation package includes a yearly supplemental of 0.05% of your salary. Plus, enjoy excellent benefits including KPERS and paid time off.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree and certification in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized therapy programs to correct existing speech or language disorders.
  • Observe and refer suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Assess and diagnose speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and diagnoses of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments.
  • Provide screenings for preschool and kindergarten upon request.
  • Deliver direct therapy in individual and group sessions, focusing on articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders.
  • Conduct impedance audiometry tests as warranted.
  • Help plan programs to be carried out by teachers/paraeducators at school or by parents at home as stipulated in the IEP.
  • Consult with regular education/special education teachers regarding students with speech/language problems who do not qualify for speech services.
  • Consult with teachers and parents to provide recommendations for achieving carry-over of trained skills to classroom and home settings.
  • Participate as a member of the evaluation team, providing insight to parents and staff from areas of expertise.
  • Serve as a liaison for relevant medical services and community resources.
  • Serve as case manager for speech/language referrals, completing and compiling all required forms and reports.
  • Conduct three-year reevaluations of students receiving speech/language therapy as their primary services.
  • Continuously measure student progress toward learning goals and objectives to guide therapeutic decisions.
  • Update student progress toward objectives on a nine-week basis.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for every child on the current caseload.
  • Maintain professional growth through participation in continuing education.
  • Serve on committees to promote or further the goals and policies of the Cooperative.
  • Maintain and complete documentary logs regularly.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Director of Special Education.
