Identifies functional speech defects and establishes a plan of care to improve patients function. Administer diagnostic speech and language evaluations and some basic, informal audio logical assessment in accordance with the plan of care Recommends communication devices/aids as indicated. Prepare a report of each clients diagnostic evaluation and make recommendations Advise, consult and teach appropriate procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other agency staff Provide direct speech service to clients under a providers plan of care. Records and reports to the provider the clients response to therapy

Requirements

Possess certification of clinical competence in speech from the American Speech Language Hearing Association
Licensed as a speech therapist in the state in which practicing
At least one (1) year of acute care setting or equivalent experience
Possess knowledge of principles and practices of speech therapy
Complies and maintains current CPR certification.
Ability to make home visits and provide nursing care in the home environment
Must have reliable transportation, current driver's license, and appropriate automobile insurance
