About The Position

Speech Language Pathologists conduct evaluations to determine eligibility of students for speech and language services and provide those services to eligible students. This is an up to 1.0 FTE non-continuing contract, Speech Language Pathologist vacancy. This position does not include benefits. Please indicate in application if you are interested in full or part-time. Anticipated start date is April 13, 2026.

Requirements

• Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as a Speech Language Pathologist.
• Applicants with a master's degree in speech language pathology, audiology or communication disorders are encouraged to apply.
• We will assist selected candidates with obtaining an Educational Staff Associate certificate.
• Knowledge of applicable Washington State and federal rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment.
• Knowledge and understanding of child development.
• Knowledge of current assistive technology.
• Ability to address a variety of speech/language deficits.
• Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement.
• Knowledge of and skills in designing and conducting specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation.
• Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for effectiveness, including cultural responsiveness.
• Ability to interact and collaborate positively and effectively with parents, students, staff, and administration.
• Skills and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with diverse people, including racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse communities.
• Ability to demonstrate cultural competencies, and respect and value for all cultural heritages.

• Experience working directly with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic backgrounds, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language impaired students.
• Assist in the development and monitoring of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for assigned students and to meet individual student needs.
• Develop therapy schedules and provide Speech Language Pathology (SLP) services for students with speech and language impairments from preschool through age 21 in accordance with their IEP.
• Evaluate, implement, and monitor augmentative communication devices for appropriate students including devices for deaf and hard of hearing students.
• Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals.
• Recognize individual student learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement/success.
• Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success.
• Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement and meeting special education laws and policies.
• Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
• Engage in continuing education studies which insures professional growth.
• Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by state and federal regulations and district policy.
• Direct the work of assigned classified staff and SLPA.
• Fulfill legal responsibilities, implement, and comply with federal and state laws, district policies and other guiding principles, and State Code of Professional Conduct.
• Perform other duties of similar scope and function.
• Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours specified under contract.
