About The Position

As a Speech Language Pathologist with Valley Regional Medical Center, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care by developing and conducting individualized therapy programs for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing impairments. You will conduct comprehensive patient assessments, establish appropriate treatment goals, and serve as an educator to patients, families, students, and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited speech therapy program is required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 - 2 years experience post clinical fellow year is required.
  • Experience in acute, NICU, and outpatient settings is also required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a subjective assessment of assigned patient's speech language abilities during spontaneous conversation.
  • Administer objective tests to assess patient's communication assets and liabilities.
  • Structure and implement individualized patient program to improve communication abilities.
  • Evaluate patient regularly during treatment and adjust program as needed to maximize patient progress.
  • Document progress in patient's chart, including notes, charges, discharge notes, and patient communication.
  • Consult with Program Director and Rehab Physician/Medical Director regarding pre-screen assessments and physician consultations to determine appropriate placement of potential patients.
