About the position

The Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing comprehensive speech-language pathology services, including assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic interventions. This role involves working collaboratively within a team to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards. The incumbent will also engage in performance improvement activities and contribute to the overall productivity of the department.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments of patients.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
• Provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients.
• Evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust plans as necessary.
• Document patient care progress in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and families on tasks and resources for functional independence.
• Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Engage in department performance improvement activities and collect relevant data.
• Participate in safety activities and contribute to cost-effective care delivery.
• Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and team members.
• Maintain licenses and certifications as required.

Requirements

• Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited program.
• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA or eligibility for it.
• Current state license as applicable.
• Experience with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of orientation.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an acute care setting is desirable.
