Requirements

  • Minimum of Master's level SLP/CF and current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and others.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to respond to pages.
  • Ability to lift and transfer patients exerting 50 - 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 - 50 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to tolerate prolonged walking and standing.
  • Ability to have sensory skills to differentiate clinical signs and symptoms.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of stressful situations including emergency response to patient incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Functions under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Physical Medicine.
  • Assumes the responsibility and accountability for a designated group of patients.
  • Provides speech and language evaluations and treatments in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the highest degree of quality patient care.
  • May be assigned to orient staff and students.
  • May assume the duties and responsibility of the supervisor in the absence of that individual.
