Requirements

  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from ASHA required, or eligibility to participate as a clinical fellow.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in communication and oral motor therapy preferred, though not required, in working with developmentally disabled students.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct, consultative, and supportive diagnostic and therapeutic services for communication and oral motor disorders to students and staff members.
  • Provides service, treatment, and intervention in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines defined by ASHA, HIPAA, IEP, and established Soaring Heights Schools policies.
  • Facilitates a team approach to program development, implementation, and monitoring by collaborating with all specialty/clinical disciplines, parents/guardians, and school staff.
  • Performs evaluations and assessments for students per IEP mandates.
  • Authors goals and objectives for each student served.
  • Communicates results of assessments to all members of the IEP team.
  • Recommends assistive technology for students who need enhanced supports for effective communication development.
  • Recommends level of direct and indirect services to best support and achieve IEP goals and objectives.
  • Maintains ongoing case documentation as required.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, to keep pace with best practice in SLP delivery of services.
