About The Position

Pilgrim Area Collaborative is a public educational collaborative that serves students with a wide range of disabilities from primary through post-secondary levels from all over the South Shore. We have an anticipated opening for a Speech Language Pathologist starting February/March 2026 due to a retirement. This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hours/week) but will consider a full-time position for the right candidate. There is an optional ESY/Summer Program available. The well-qualified candidate must have appropriate Massachusetts certification in content area and experience with students dealing with social emotional disabilities and/or high functioning ASD.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the evaluation TEAM by performing assessments, making recommendations through written reports and by writing appropriate sections of students’ educational plans.
  • Serve as consultant to school personnel and parents, sharing knowledge and information related to area of expertise as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between community providers [e.g. medical personnel, private therapists] and school personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintain communication with parents regarding student performance and progress as needed.
  • Provide direct service for an assigned caseload, as outlined on students’ educational plan. Written preparation for therapy sessions may be requested by Director.
  • Maintain thorough and ongoing records of individual student performance and progress.
  • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
  • Work in a cooperative inter-disciplinary team approach in planning and implementing student services.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Develop and maintain a therapy environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of resources available. This includes the implementation of appropriate systems of behavior management.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in the upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
  • Provide for his/her professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Any and all other duties required to fulfill the responsibilities of a therapist of students with special needs.
