About The Position

As the Speech Language Pathologist, under the general direction of the Rehabilitation Supervisor in Home Care and Director for In-patient Rehabilitation Services, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsible for organizing and administering prescribed speech therapy programs in an effort to reduce and/or prevent disability to help patients achieve their maximum functional potential.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited program in Speech Language Pathology required.
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Connecticut license or Connecticut license eligible required.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferred.
  • Uses common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or person with disabilities.
  • Understands technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels.
  • Works fast and accurately in emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Identify and act on priorities for smooth departmental operation.
  • Maintain discretion in handling confidential nature of information that is available.
  • Keep up-to-date on trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.
  • Ability to work in a team situations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
  • Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart.
  • Educates patient, family and significant others regarding condition, treatment, home program and Rehabilitation Services.
  • Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
  • Orients, instructs, and directs other Health Care Team members as needed.
