About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Full-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our growing multi-disciplinary team in our Inpatient and Day Neuro settings. This position is a Full-time 32 hour per week role with a Sunday through Wednesday schedule at our Lakeway location. The working hours are from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The candidate will be required to cross-train to cover both our inpatient rehab unit and our Day Neuro program. The role involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to treat medically complex patients, including those with stroke, brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and other acquired neuro diagnoses, along with co-morbidities such as aphasia, apraxia, cognitive-communication deficits, motor speech disorders, voice issues, and dysphagia. We are looking for a candidate with strong patient-centered and neurological rehab skills who can work effectively in a team setting. Recent graduates with prior experience in cognitive rehab, brain injury, and stroke are encouraged to apply, although there are no CFY opportunities available at this time.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • CCC-SLP certification from ASHA, TX-SLP certification from the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Dysphagia experience required.
  • 3+ years of outpatient experience with adult neuro preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • LSVT/SPEAK OUT certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with AAC preferred.
  • NMES for swallowing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates all assigned patients and develops, implements, and modifies treatment plans in accordance with the patient’s needs and physician direction.
  • Responsible for delegation and direction of all discipline-specific therapy services for assigned patients.
  • Ensures the design of functional and patient-centered treatment programs allowing for an effective return to community, vocational, or academic activities.
  • Serves as an educator of patients, families, students, co-workers, and self.
  • Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, development of discipline-specific therapy services, and design of program delivery.
  • Evaluate the patient's level of functioning and develop an individualized treatment plan aligned with patient and family goals.
  • Participate in discharge planning including placement, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment.
