About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Battle Creek is a critical illness recovery hospital committed to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. We help patients during some of the most vulnerable, painful moments of their lives - and Speech Pathologists (SLP) play a central role in providing compassionate, excellent treatment every step of the way.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association.

Responsibilities

• Take initiative, responsibility, and action every day to understand the physical, mental, psychological, and social needs of patients.
• Provide a comprehensive evaluation of communication skills and/or swallowing function.
• Deliver goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum communication and/or swallowing potential.
• Participate with fellow staff in monitoring the quality of services provided by the Rehab Therapy Department.
• Engage in peer review for staff performance and appraisals.
• Assist in the development of the SLP role in programs and services, as well as revising departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain an adequate stock of supplies.
• Share professional knowledge and experience with colleagues.
• Alert the Manager to educational needs.
