Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients with speech, language, voice, cognition, fluency, auditory (re)habilitation, and swallowing/oral feeding disorders.
  • Educates and counsels patients and families.
  • Provides independent therapeutic services and identifies area(s) of clinical specialization and competency.
  • Supervises graduate students as assigned in clinical specialty area.
  • Participates actively in identifying and conducting quality improvement activities.
  • Collaborates with clinical practice team to achieve patient outcomes and system objectives.
  • Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of adult patients with swallowing, speech, language, cognitive-communication, and voice disorders across multiple ICUs and step-down floors.
  • Completes Video-fluoroscopic Swallow Studies (VFSS)/MBSS and Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) to assess dysphagia and aid in treatment planning.
  • Documents patient progress and outcomes in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in clinical education and mentorship of graduate students and clinical fellows.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Completion of Clinical Fellowship (CF).
  • Current Tennessee (TN) SLP Licensure or eligibility.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is required.
