About The Position

Objectives: To develop and implement the school Speech Therapy Program. To participate as a member of the Clinical Team in order to coordinate interdisciplinary efforts. Specifications: To conduct evaluations in order to determine developmental levels and diagnose disorders of articulation, voice, fluency, and language to determine communication problems of hearing impaired. To determine treatment priorities, scheduling and procedures for providing therapy services. To conduct re-evaluations on each student receiving therapy according to the Commissioner’s Regulations or as recommended by the team and/or the child’s school district, and to provide written progress reports as required. To provide therapy services on an individual and/or small group basis according to the end individual needs of the child. To maintain appropriate student records including but not limited to attendance, I.E.P. information, initiation and discharge summaries. To develop and supervise classroom therapeutic programs to be implemented by classroom staff and parents. To consult with school personnel regarding recommendations. To maintain, and utilize evaluative and therapeutic materials necessary to conduct a Speech Therapy Program. To participate in training programs within the school and conduct in-service programs and demonstration for students, staff and parents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Valid N.Y.S. Certificate as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities
  • Evidence of continued graduate study in the area of Speech Pathology leading to a valid N.Y.S., license as a Speech and Language Therapist.
