Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities Performs initial assessment and evaluation, including history of prior level of function, subjective information, objective tests and measures, and assessment (including discharge disposition/home safety recommendations as appropriate). Establishes plan of care and goals for future treatments. Incorporates evidence-based clinical decision-making to select and utilize appropriate patient interventions in accordance with the plan of care. Modifies the plan of care as appropriate based on patient progress/response to interventions. Provides education to patients, caregivers and other staff members as appropriate. Develops and leads individual and/or group activities/programs. Documents patient assessment and progress appropriately; maintains timely, complete and accurate records. Collaborates and communicates effectively with other staff and works as an active participant in an integrated patient care environment. Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Participates as an active member of committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned. Independently plans work and implements actions to accomplish goals. Meets or exceeds clinical and quality care standards, actively participates in quality improvement activities, and strives for high patient satisfaction. Maintains professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Stays abreast of trends and best practices; develops and implements new and revised methods, practices, policies, techniques and procedures. Ensures compliance all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned. Essential Job Function This is a pe diem position. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current/active State of Washington Speech Pathologist license
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) as issued by the American Speech and Hearing Association required or a Clinical Fellow working under an interim license through a mentor provided by SPMC.
  • BLS (Health Care Provider Certification) required
  • Proficient in assessment and treatment of communication, speech, and swallowing disorders for inpatient and outpatient pediatric and adult population
  • Must stay current in knowledge base, certifications and licenses indicted above and meet facility mandated education requirements.
  • Ability to communicate well to patients, families, peers, and medical staff.
  • Proficient in computer skills including ability to utilize software systems for the maintenance of patient records and communication with team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years in outpatient and inpatient setting preferred
  • Pediatric to geriatric experience preferred
