About The Position

The position is for a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist at Lexington Medical Center's Outpatient Rehabilitation in Lexington, North Carolina. The role involves performing comprehensive evaluations of patients of all ages for communicative or swallowing disorders, planning and conducting treatment programs, and providing education and counseling to patients and their families. The Speech-Language Pathologist will also participate in training interns and medical personnel, prepare lectures, and continuously seek to improve patient care services. The position requires a current license in Speech-Language Pathology and a Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Requirements

  • Current license in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association.
  • Must have SLP-CCC.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive professional evaluation of patients referred for differential diagnosis of communicative or swallowing disorders.
  • Select and administer evaluation instruments appropriate for the patient's age and cognitive function.
  • Educate patients and families regarding communication or swallowing deficits and treatment options.
  • Plan and conduct treatment programs for patients with speech, language, voice, and/or swallowing impairments.
  • Develop individual short-term and long-term treatment goals.
  • Implement plans to achieve treatment goals, modifying therapy strategies as necessary.
  • Provide and participate in in-service education and training of speech pathology interns and fellows.
  • Prepare and present formal lectures on communication and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Coordinate and prioritize the patient caseload to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Evaluate options for augmentative/alternative communication and recommend appropriate devices.
