About The Position

Delano Public Schools is looking for a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide coverage for the early childhood program providing special education services to children ages 3-6. The SLP will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing speech/language therapy services to support student's communication development and participation in the education environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, child-centered, and experienced in working with young learners. POSITION DETAILS: Location: Delano Community Education Building Hours: 8 hours/day (7:30 to 3:30) Anticipated Start Date / Duration: 13 weeks starting on January 20, 2026 (specific dates are subject to change slightly) Salary: $261.98/day

Requirements

  • Current Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA; Clinical Fellows (CFs) will be considered.
  • Experience working with preschool and early childhood populations.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect speech and language services to students ages 3-6 in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Conduct speech, language, and communication assessments and write corresponding evaluation reports.
  • Participate in the development, review, and revision of IEPs in collaboration with teachers, families, and other team members.
  • Implement evidence-based therapy interventions to address students' speech, language, fluency, and communication needs.
  • Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate communication goals into daily routines and classroom activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of services, progress notes, and required documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, strategies, and home carryover activities.
  • Maintain positive and constructive communication with staff.
  • Collaborate with early childhood and special education teams to support inclusive practices and student success.
  • Maintain and report accurate student attendance and performance records.
  • Collaborate effectively with school and district staff as part of a department team and other leadership committees.
  • Ability to adhere to due process timelines and complete individualized education plan and evaluation paperwork to guide educational programming.
