About The Position

The position involves assessing and treating communication disorders in individuals, fostering effective communication skills, and collaborating with educators and parents to create a supportive environment that enhances language development and overall communication abilities. The role also includes providing personalized intervention strategies to help individuals overcome speech and language challenges, promoting their academic and social success.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate and provide therapy for students with speech and/or language deficits.
  • Serve as a resource to school staff regarding students with speech and/or language needs, including collaboration and consultation with teachers.
  • Identify, select and administer appropriate formal and informal assessment instruments to diagnose speech, voice, hearing and language impairments.
  • Participate in the screening process to identify students suspected of having a speech and/or language impairment.
  • Attend and participate in referral and Team Meetings.
  • Act as a liaison for identified students with speech and/or language impairments as designated by the TEAM or TEAM chairperson.
  • Write individualized educational plans (IEPs) as appropriate and deemed by the Director of Special Education or designee.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, colleagues, and parents.
